Julia Hawley took part in the ASICS WildMan 2012 Duathlon in Surrey, England, completing in the Duathlon which consist of a 10K Run, 18K Bike and a 5K Run. Ms Hawley finished 105th overall with a time of 2:52:41, Hawley was the 8th Female Finisher overall, the 3rd Female finisher in the 40+ Masters Division and 1st in the 45-49 Female Age Group. Hawley completed the 10K Run Course clocking a time of 59:38, she then clocked a time of 1:19.12 during the 18K Bike Course before recording a time of 31:13 on the 5K Run Course.

Tyler Wins in Argentina
Courtesy of Bernews.com: Another big performance from Bermuda’s Tyler Butterfield saw him claim the win in yesterday’s [Jan.15] 2012 La Paz PATCO Triathlon Pan American Elite Men Championship in Argentina. Butterfield topped an international field of competitors from Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Cuba, United States, Argentina, Costa Rica, Guam, Columbia, Panama, Barbados and more to win the title. He overcame a 46-second deficit out of the swim, broke away to a minute lead on the bike and then held fast against a blazing run by Canada’s Brent McMahon to take top honors in Argentina. Butterfield’s 19:43 swim was 46-48 seconds slower than Canada’s Brent McMahon and Brian Lamar of the USA ...

Team Triathlon accepted into Commonwealth Games
An announcement from the International Triathlon Union:
The International Triathlon Union (ITU) is delighted to announce that the Triathlon Mixed Relay has been officially included on the Commonwealth Games programme starting in 2018. Today in St. Kitts & Nevis, the 70 member Commonwealth Games Associations present voted in favour of including the Mixed Relay event at the Commonwealth Games Federation General Assembly. The discipline may also be considered by the Organising Committee for the Glasgow 2014 Games.
Today's inclusion into the Commonwealth Games is a great boost for the development of the sport across the 71 Commonwealth nations around the globe. Earlier this year, the format was also accepted onto the programme of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

Coached Masters Swimming - BASA
Message from BASA:
Good day Masters swimmers,
I know that many of you have goals for this year to compete in triathlons, open water swims, overseas swim meets or just want to train harder. I am pleased to let you know that we will begin to have coached training sessions at lunchtime again. There will be a coached session on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12-1pm. These sessions will be approximately 3,000 meters and will consist of drills, kicking, pulling, sprinting and hopefully a good time. I will start these sessions this Monday 31st (Halloween). I look forward to working with you all.

Flora and Tyler: Top Ten in the 2011 Pan Ams
Bermudian elite triathletes Flora Duffy and Tyler Butterfield each achieved top ten finishes in the XVIth Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico 0n 23 October 2011. Flora finished 8th in the Women’s Triathlon, while Tyler finished 6th in the Men’s race.
Flora clocked an overall time of 2:03:38. She was sixth out of the Water in a time of 20:08, then completed the Bike Course in a time of 1:03:42 and the Run Course clocking 39:02.
Tyler recorded the twenty-ninth fastest Swim time of 19:29. He then made his way up the field with the fourth fastest Bike ride of 56:44 and the fifth fastest Run time of 33 ...

January 2012 Training Camp
Dave Morrison writes:
"In case you are wondering, there will be another triathlon camp run by Mike Neill and Jasper Blake and hopefully Jen MaClean (or an alternative as Jen is pregnant and MAY not be able to fly).At the moment the proposed dates are the last week in January 2012 but dates and details are to be finalized. There might well be a number of triathletes from Victoria BC participating in the camp.
It is anticipated that the camp will be similar in content to last year but designed to accommodate not just long distance triathletes but also Olympic distances triathletes.
I am just putting you on notice so you can plan ahead if you want to attend ...

Mark Does Ver Proud!
Neil de Ste Croix, President of the BTA, wrote this on 24 September:Greetings from the now sunny Espana!!!
Young Mark Godfrey did Bermuda proud today with a
spirited performance against a very fast and tough field. The majority
looked to be at the upper end of the age limit of 18 years and Mark actually
looked quite small on the start line.
Just to back track, we left Bermuda on Wednesday
night and endured a 17.5 hour journey from walking out of the house to arriving
at our hotel. A few rookie mistakes – bike box on the underground during
rush hour????What were we thinking??? Note to self – do not listen to the
advice of friends at Gatwick ...
