OUR WORLD CHAMPION!

Flora Duffy is the pride of Bermuda after winning the 2014 Xterra World Championship in Maui, Hawaii on 26 October.

The race comprised a 1.5km rough water swim, a 30.4km mountain bike ride and a 9.5km cross country run, and featured 800 athletes from 28 countries.

Well done also to Julia Hawley and Kent Richardson, who placed 4th and 8th, respectively, in their age groups. Read more.

BERMUDA'S IRON LADY IS ON TOP OF THE WORLD!
Well done to Karen Smith, who won her age group in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. Karen showed her mental as well as physical strength by reeling in the age group leader in the last two miles of the run leg--posting sub 7 minutes miles at the end of an even tougher than usual Ironman event. Wow. Just wow.

Well done also to Chris Harris for a strong finish. Tyler Butterfield has made us all proud so many times recently, but this wasn't to be his day. He had to pull out during the cycle with back pain. We'll be rooting for you next time out, Tyler.

The Bank of Bermuda Foundation Triathlon
event for 2014 was held in St George's on Sunday 28 September.

Many congratulations to our top 3 finishers Neil de Ste Croix, Karen Smith (first female and second overall) and Mark Wilcox, and to everyone who took part.
